Making A Difference

During her time teaching yoga to adults with learning disabilities, Lisa observed an improvement in their balance, coordination & strength.

However, it was the students feedback on improvement in their balance which subsequently was showing a reduction in falls, reducing the risk of injuries in the students which provided Lisa with the inspiration to explore the effect of a regular yoga practice had on improved balance.

During the first year of her studies, Lisa has undertaken a scoping review of the research literature in yoga within the adult learning disability population and the impact it has on a persons balance. This information sets the foundation for her to design the research study for the PhD programme.

The study aims to add the current knowledge and research available throughout the learning disability population.
